Renzo Savini, creator of an extraordinary collection of artisanal artifacts and natural finds, never considered himself a traditional collector. His approach was that of a quiet researcher, guided by a personal and intimate impulse, far removed from any desire for exhibition or recognition.
Savini's collection ideally aligns with the tradition of sixteenth-century Wunderkammern, or "cabinets of curiosities," which united art and nature in displays of astonishing variety. These microcosms, inspired by an encyclopedic vision of knowledge, brought together rare and curious objects, arranged to inspire wonder and contemplation. In the sixteenth century, such collections emerged as a means of understanding and possessing the visible universe. Savini's treasure, housed in a mysterious and captivating dwelling, echoes this ancient tradition, blending personal taste, a spirit of inquiry, and a subtle desire to uncover the hidden connection between human craftsmanship and the natural world.
Recognized by the Emilia-Romagna Region as one of the prestigious "Homes and Studios of Illustrious People," the Renzo Savini House Museum is a beacon of cultural heritage and artistic memory. It is a proud member of the National Association of Houses of Memory, part of a national network of houses dedicated to preserving the legacy of Italy's most illustrious figures. It is also a member of ICOM Italy, confirming its important role within the international community dedicated to safeguarding cultural heritage.
